I think we’re going to be seeing a lot more social media companies investing in contextual filtering systems designed to remove harassment from people’s dashes and timelines. It makes sense. Social media is primarily about selling eyeballs to advertisers. People looking away because of harassment isn’t part of that business model, nor is brands finding themselves inadvertently associated with people who think death threats and slurs are acceptable public discourse.
