The death of literature.

/The death of literature.

We must strike down the insidious lie that a book is the creation of an individual soul labouring in isolation. We must strike it down because it threatens the overall quality and breadth of American literature. [Authors] need editors and we need publishers and we need booksellers.

–John Green knows where it’s at.

(I seem to recall reading a version of this article where it seemed Green was directly ascribing “the death of literature” to the rising popularity of self-publishing. I’m not sure if the Guardian changed the article or I read something else that was paraphrased badly, but… yeah. It seems to be a meme that’s now out there. Poor Green. Pissing off self-pubbed authors and libertarians in the same speech!)
