A bunch of laptop and software manufacturers got into trouble recently when it was discovered they were shipping badware with their machines. Originally intended to serve ads (what else?), which is annoying in itself, the spyware can also potentially be hijacked for even more nefarious means.
This test attempts to check your computer for the known badware. Note that it only looks for what it looks for, and is not a general MitM checker; coming back negative doesn’t mean your secure connections are secure,1 only that they’re not being actively broken by this one particular thing.
