I think it’s worth considering who wins in this “race to the bottom”. In general, more stuff for free benefits consumers, which in turn benefits the platform.

Again, this is about indie devs in the App Store (and within the WordPress ecosystem), but it’s also worth considering the implications for authors with services like KDP.

One of the points I will make is that many of the alternate revenue streams King talks about as being available to software devs don’t have obvious analogues in the book world.

At least, not until we start putting ads in Kindles, I guess.
