Why is it only “playing the gender card” when women do it? I mean, male politicians play on stereotypes of masculinity all the damn time, and a big part of that is playing on the femininity–or perceived lack thereof–of their opponents’ spouses. Y’know, like what’s happened to Hillary Clinton her entire life; having to constantly seem more “feminine” to further her husband’s career.1 And now suddenly it’s her turn, and now we get all the “gender card” quips.

Well fuck that.

  1. True story, my mother first went to the U.S. during Clinton’s second election campaign. She brought me back a bunch of memorabilia, including a button with the slogan “Re-elect Hillary’s husband!”. []
