This is something I’ve heard said about Fury Road from a number of different corners: basically that it shows just how bad most of our action movies have been for the past decade or so.
You don’t have to denigrate women to have a fun action film.
You don’t have to denigrate people of color to have a fun action film.
You don’t have to have a generic hero to have a fun action film.
You don’t have to show graphic sexual assault to have a fun action film.
I could go on, but you get the picture.
