For the record, I am a “literal caucasian” on my Dad’s side, and a “US-definition caucasian” on my Mum’s.

People always used to tell me when I was little that I “looked like my father”, which at the time I thought meant they thought I looked like a forty-year-old-man, but which I’ve subsequently come to realise meant they thought I looked, “White, but not, yanno… white white.”

    It took me years to figure out that often when people ask me where I’m from, they don’t expect to hear a city. So yeah, same…
