Judge rules emails written in capitals to be shouting.

There’s a bit more going on here that just the title; essentially a judge in a custody dispute told a father not to email his estranged children in all-caps and “large fonts” since it was perceived as intimidating.

I admit this made me chuckle a bit, for the sole reason that my father-in-law is a known serial offender in the all-caps-emails stakes. His excuse is that he’s an engineer, so thinks lowercase letters are for Arts students or something. Unfortunately, he’s also the boss of his business, and his staff don’t necessarily react well to EMAILS WRITTEN ALL LIKE THIS. There was an intervention. It was awkward.

Point being: uppercase means shouting. Now there’s a legal precedent.
