Look, I love my Jawbone UP as much as the next hipster, and lifetracking is pretty interesting… but even I find it sort of creepy that my phone now gives me suggestions about where it thinks I should be at any time during the day (and yes, I know I can turn this feature off). And things are only going to get more granular.

It’s not that I object to the data being collected, per se. It’s that I’m nervous about what companies are doing with it. You remember those scenes in The Avengers and one of the Batman films (I forget which one) where The Good Guys are tracking The Bad Guy by covertly hacking the cell phones of random people? Remember how everyone was all like “har har comic book films so ridiculous”?

Yeah. Not so much, hey.

And not everyone with access to the data is Batman…
