One of the most frustrating things about having a background in INFOSEC is sitting through depictions of the discipline in popular media. Skyfall is probably the most notoriously awful thing I’ve had to sit through in recent memory, to the point where my husband kept holding onto my arm every time anything computer-related occurred, lest I be tempted to explode into some kind of GIAC-fueled rage.
But Skyfall didn’t make me angry, just sad. Because, as with most media, its depictions of “hacking” weren’t rage-inducing so much as they were simply sad with their small-minded tedium.
The real world of INFOSEC is much, much stranger than anything you’ve ever seen in the movies.
