So it’s always enjoyable to see Skepchick break down the “she must want flowers even if she says she doesn’t” from both sides of the equation (“not everyone wants flowers”/”sometimes people say things they don’t mean”).

My husband has bought my flowers exactly once. I forget what the occasion was, only that he had them delivered to my office and I think I shocked the delivery guy by my flat affect upon reception. I then had to spent the rest of the day fending off gushing coworkers.

On the other hand, hubby acknowledged the flower gift was really for him rather than me per se by also including chocolates (I fucking love chocolates).

This year, for Valentine’s, I bought him flowers. Because he likes that sort of thing.

So it all works out in the end.
