I admit I’ve been kind of enamoured by Hemingway (the app) as a writing tool lately. Copy and paste a block of text into it, and it will highlight phrases based on a few simple Writing Best Practice 101 guidelines.
Like most writing tools. Hemingway isn’t a rulebook but it can be very useful for self-editing; figuring out how to improve the flow of a sentence that isn’t working and the like. It’s not so much about “fixing” writing according to an arbitrary set of “rules” so much as it is being aware of what you’re doing.
Now. If only it could be included in the next version of Scrivener…
