It’s an interesting reminder that what we now take for granted as the OS “look”–the abstraction of a desktop, with layers of applications spread across it like documents on an office desk–does have an origin and wasn’t the only paradigm people were experimenting with back in the 70s, 80s, and early 90s. Hell, it isn’t even the only paradigm now, thanks to mobile devices… but that’s another story.)
